Building a DIY brand via recruitment advertising

Client
Ridgeons Ltd is the UK’s largest independent timber and building materials merchant, with over 20 major stores in the East of England. The company is a major employer in the area.

Objective
Ridgeons needs a good flow of high quality candidates for its wide range of regional vacancies. Media Managers was appointed to improve recruitment advertising effectiveness.

Strategy and implementation
We designed a customised system to streamline procedures, saving the client time and ensuring a consistent corporate style. The system can deal with variable volumes of advertising, ranging across local newspapers and specialist trade magazines.

Processes for placing bookings, authorising media costs and approving copy have been simplified, making things easier for in-house staff to manage. We negotiate the best media and page positions to maximise impact and deliver the most effective response. Performance is reviewed weekly to ensure that the service continues to meet Ridgeons’ needs.

Results
The response rate to advertisements has increased in both volume and quality and Ridgeons’ HR teams have found they can focus more on key HR issues.
